Part of the goal of O.T.C. is to create positive social experiences for our consumers that gives them the emotional and social support they need to feel successful through their work at O.T.C.. Every year the O.T.C. organizes major events for its consumers and staff to promote friendship and camaraderie and to give the OTC an opportunity to thank each and every member for their contributions to the organization. These annual events provide a much-needed social outlet for many of our consumers and create opportunities to reinforce existing friendships both in and out of the workplace. Both the consumers and staff look forward to all of the annual events and often anticipate each one for weeks in advance. Food, drinks, music and fun are always on the agenda and we’re looking forward to sharing even more dancing and laughter at this years’ festivities.
The Annual Dinner Dance is always a favorite and the consumers look forward to it for weeks. Held at Merion Caterers, the Dinner Dance is a formal affair with a fully catered sit down dinner with plenty of opportunities for everyone so socialize and reinforce friendships outside of the workplace. Even the staff and board members anticipate this event and invitations are open to the family of consumers as well as occasional elected officials. It’s one of the largest events at O.T.C. with 455 people attending the 2015 Annual Dinner Dance. This year marked the 35th anniversary of this event and was a wonderful evening for all.
In addition to the Annual Dinner Dance, the O.T.C. also hosts much more casual (but just as much fun!) gatherings. The Annual Picnic has food, drinks, dancing, and lively entertainment to keep everyone moving and even a t-shirt contest ahead of time so everyone can have a small keepsake from the party. The Years of Service (YOS) event gives the O.T.C. a chance to acknowledge the commitment and dedication of both the consumers and staff by recognizing five-year milestones of work with O.T.C.. Lastly, the O.T.C. hosts a number of holiday parties in December to help everyone join in the celebration of the holiday season with music, food, and, of course, camaraderie.
