NDEAM Food Services Employee Spotlight

Spotlighting four outstanding food services employees

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). To celebrate, we want to spotlight some of the hardest-working employees from the OTC working in food services. The goal of NDEAM is to spotlight the importance of employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Often paid under the minimum wage, employees with disabilities do not get the credit they deserve considering the amount of help they provide.

For over 20 years, the OTC has been providing work in food services. Services offered include dishwashing, bussing tables, and custodial maintenance. Food service training takes place at the Halvorsen Dining Hall at McGuire AFB, serving around 1500 meals daily. Over 30 individuals with disabilities from the OTC work in food service at the Halvorsen Dining Hall, which is open 24/7.
